How much does it cost to keep up with a BMW? oil changes, tires, etc.?

over like a honda or toyota or other brands.

what about mercedez too?

just how much more expensive is it to maintain? How much does it cost to keep up with a BMW? oil changes, tires, etc.?
I once owned a BMW and I tell everyone that BMW is the single most expensive car to maintain that exists on the face of the earth. Oil filters are proprietary, meaning you have to purchase them from the dealer and when I had mine they were around $14. Batteries to fit them are not made by any American companies either. It cost me $170 to purchase a battery from the dealer. The neutral start switch failed and that was $130 while the same part for an American car typically runs around $25 to $35, I finally got rid of it before it ate my wallet alive. How much does it cost to keep up with a BMW? oil changes, tires, etc.?
I have only driven BMWs for the last 15 years. I drove Hondas before that. I have found that Hondas are somewhat more reliable. However, when they did break the cost to repair was about the same as to repair a BMW. The parts were about the same and the labor rates at a independent mechanic were the exact same.

Mustange says that things such as oil filters and batteries are proprietary. This is definitely not true. BMWs are delivered with Douglas batteries. You can go into any AutoZone, O'Reillys, NAPA, Parts America, Sears, etc., and buy a battery or oil filter for any BMW up to and including the 12 cylinder. General maintenance parts do not cost any more for BMWs than any other car. Parts that are only made by BMW will cost more than parts for American cars but about the same as Japanese cars. The only thing I buy from the dealer is the Castrol synthetic oil made for BMWs which is only available at the dealer. They charge $6 a quart for it and I take it to my service station and they change the oil for $20. I supply the oil and they provide the filter.
I currently own a 2007 328i BMW, and BMW covers all maintenance (including labor)(breaks, rotors, oil and fluids) for 4 years and then you can extend it if you are the original owner.

No other manufacturer does that, the downside is a lot of them come with the Run flat tires, if you lease the car you have to return it with run flat tires which are the worst tires in the world, and they are very expensive (450$ a tire)

it also gets pretty good gas mileage and I am an ';aggressive'; driver in it and I still get 23mpg.
over Toyota, it's cheap! Unless you buy a m3 or m5 which require BMW inspections-they're normal! You'll learn where to get the parts at discount prices. Tyres are Tyres.. Depends on the profile and Tyre manufacturer.. My Tyre's for my M3 I bought 2 sets on special offer and paid only 拢589! If my Vanos goes, BMW would charge 2k if not more for a replacement. I have a spare one of them too which I bought for 拢300 and it's brand new! Preparation is the key! Honda is prestigious - all main dealers are similar prices if something major goes wrong!

I don't smoke, i drink little - so i spoil myself with some good old fashioned german refinement!
Depends on what kind of BMW you get. I have a '97 BMW 328is and its not as expensive to maintain. I got a manual from here:

So I do all my work and save lots of money.
