well there is a couple different things that you should do, one is getting a anti-spyware program, like spybot, or even the yahoo toolbar with anti-spy, run that every so often to keep those things out. also on a normal basis, if you install and uninstall alot of things, you may run the defrag to help speed things up. You also have a disc cleanup that removes temp files that build up while on the web.How do I keep my computer maintained?

back up your system regularly
run your virus protection, scan disk, defrag once a week
minimize whenever possible, move items to disk or net for storage
Take your brain to a computer store they'll maintain it for 100 dollars i think.
